Course DescriptionStudent's course of study will include factors that affect the growth and development of young children from conception through the first year of life. This includes a thorough study of prenatal influences and possible problems, pre and post natal care, labor and delivery and the needs of the newborn up to 12 months. The five areas of development (physical, social, moral, emotional and intellectual) of the whole child will be a focus along with appropriate care and guidance of an infants needs. The nature/nurture aspect of human development will be emphasized with a strong ecological perspective.
